Mark Wyatt was named director of the SEC's office of compliance inspections and examinations on Thursday.
Mr. Wyatt, who will lead the Securities and Exchange Commission's national exam program, has served as deputy director of OCIE since October 2014 and acting director since April 2015 following the departure of Andrew Bowden.
Mr. Wyatt, a former principal and senior portfolio manager at global multistrategy hedge fund Stark Investments, also helped coordinate the office's private fund specialized working group and create the private fund examination unit. SEC Chairwoman Mary Jo White said in a statement that Mr. Wyatt “has done an outstanding job as acting director.”
