CalPERS hired three global equity managers to run a total of $6 billion and committed $1 billion to a new private equity fund, said an investment report that will be presented to the pension fund's investment committee Nov. 16.
The $296.7 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento, invested $2 billion each in Wellington Management's global diversified equity strategy, Epoch Investment Partners' global equity shareholder yield strategy and Allianz Global Investors' best styles global all-country strategy.
A funding source could not be learned by press time.
The $1 billion private equity commitment is to CVC Capital Partners Strategic Opportunities Compounding Capital fund.
The investments were not subject to the investment committee's approval and were made by the staff using its delegated authority.
