Nancy Everett was named CEO and chief investment officer of the VCU Investment Management Co., a university news release said.
It is a new position. The board of visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, approved the formation of VCIMCO in June to oversee the money management of about $2 billion in assets, which includes operating assets and endowment assets.
VCIMCO money management operations are due to begin in early 2016, the news release said. Ms. Everett, a VCU alumna, is currently a senior adviser at Lombard Odier Investment Management.
Ms. Everett's previous positions include CEO of Promark Global Advisors, the investment management arm of General Motors that reverted back to the name GM Asset Management in 2010, and chief investment officer for the $68.1 billion Virginia Retirement System, Richmond, where she began her career in 1979.
Other newly created VCIMCO staff positions are:
- Robert F. Hill was named deputy CIO. He was previously executive vice president and co-CIO at Piedmont Investment Advisors before leaving in 2014;
- William Lee was named chief operating officer, and was previously a managing director, chief financial officer and chief compliance officer at Summit Rock Advisors;
- Bruce MacDonald was named managing director and was previously CIO and managing partner at hedge fund-of-funds firm Crayna Capital; and
- Cameron McLennan was named director, and was previously a quantitative equity portfolio manager at Piedmont Investment Advisors.
University spokesman Michael R. Porter did not return a phone call by press time.
