Greg Behar was named head of index investment strategy at Legal & General Investment Management America, a spokeswoman said in an e-mail.
The position is new and is part of LGIMA's expansion of its index team. Mr. Behar, who started at the end of last week, reports to Shaun Murphy, head of U.S. index funds.
“We look forward to leveraging Greg's experience across the investment spectrum, from market cap-weighted index investments to more custom and complex factor-based strategies,” Mr. Murphy said in a news release. “His expertise will be crucial as we continue to gain momentum and uphold our dedication to delivering a truly differentiated index offering.”
Previously, Mr. Behar was senior vice president, global equity, at Northern Trust Asset Management. A Northern Trust spokesman said there are no immediate plans for a replacement.
LGIMA's index team manages more than $59 billion in assets.
