Oklahoma Teachers' Retirement System, Oklahoma City, named semifinalists in its search for active international equity managers, said Tom Spencer, executive director, in an e-mail.
The semifinalists for blended developed and emerging markets equity are Allianz Global Investors, Bailard, Johnston Asset Management, Strategic Global Advisors, Tocqueville Asset Management, Vontobel Asset Management, and Wellington Management.
The semifinalists for blended emerging and frontier markets equity are Aberdeen Asset Management, Hermes Investment Management, McKinley Capital Management and State Street Global Advisors.
The number of managers that will be hired and individual allocation sizes has not been determined. Up to $819 million could be divided among the selected managers.
Interviews and due diligence trips will take place over the next few months.
Exploratory RFPs for active international equity managers were issued in the spring. Funding would come from passive international large-cap equity manager Northern Trust Asset Management, Mr. Spencer said. As of Sept. 30, $780 million was invested with Northern Trust. The pension fund could choose to keep a portion of international equity assets passively invested with Northern Trust, he added.
Investment consultant The Bogdahn Group is assisting the $13.2 billion pension fund with the search.
