This year's annual National Association of Pension Funds conference was its biggest show yet.
The association — which started the conference in Manchester, England, on Oct. 14 as the National Association of Pension Funds, a day later announced its rebirth as the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association. Conference attendance stood at 1,679, up almost 100 from a year ago.
Ninety-five exhibitors kept attendees well-fed, watered and with plenty of goodies, up from 81 last year.
The association bills itself as the voice of workplace pensions in the U.K., representing more than 1,300 pension schemes.
Conference highlights included an appearance by British tennis ace Greg Rusedski on the BNP Paribas Investment Partners and BNP Paribas Securities Services conference stand; consultant Redington Ltd.'s newly launched animated comic strip duo, Will Power & Pensions Panda, which aim to encourage young people and those entering the workforce to develop an understanding of saving and investing; and the launch of a news-style program, Pension Revolution, by the PLSA and ITN Productions, looking at the changes, challenges and initiatives in the retirement industry.
