Peter M. Gilbert, chief investment officer of Lehigh University’s $1.2 billion endowment, will retire Nov. 13, said spokeswoman Lori Friedman.
Jordan Hitch, a member of the Bethlehem, Pa.-based university’s board and a former managing director of Bain Capital, will serve as interim CIO while the search committee seeks a permanent replacement.
Mr. Hitch will step down from the board while he serves as interim CIO. The board has formed a search committee to find a permanent replacement.
Mr. Gilbert has served as CIO since 2007. Before joining Lehigh, he was the chief investment officer of the $34 billion Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System, Harrisburg.
