Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners closed its sixth private equity fund with more than $1 billion, surpassing its $750 million fundraising target, said Matt Burkhard, spokesman, in an e-mail.
The firm is not releasing exactly how much was raised for the fund, which aims to invest in four private equity strategies: buyouts, venture, growth capital and special situations. Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners’ fifth fund closed with $720 million in 2012.
Investors in the fund include the $1.1 billion Baton Rouge (La.) & Parish of East Baton Rouge Employees’ Retirement System.
