Nick Samuels was named a director on the manager research team at Redington, and will lead its equity manager research, said a spokesman.
The role is new. Despite a current market trend to favor passive strategies or other asset classes, Redington said in a news release that active equity strategies remain an “important part of many deficit recovery plans.”
“Our goal is to know clients’ managers so well that they don’t need to,” said Pete Drewienkiewicz, head of manager research at Redington, in the release. “We see this as a strategic role to bolster our expertise in this area, particularly for clients who need higher returns.”
Mr. Samuels was previously a senior analyst at SEI Investments, where he led U.K., European and global equity manager research. An SEI spokesman said his responsibilities are being covered by other members of the team until a replacement is named.
