Alfred Spector joined big-data specialist hedge fund manager Two Sigma as chief technology officer and head of its engineering organization.
Mr. Spector replaces Matthew Jacobus as CTO, a spokewoman said. Mr. Jacobus’ new role at Two Sigma is chief architect and head of platform engineering.
Mr. Spector will oversee firmwide technology strategies with a “focus on driving innovation to optimize Two Sigma’s investment platform and overall capabilities,” a news release said.
Mr. Spector’s experience in engineering, research and strategy are “ideally suited” to Two Sigma at its current stage of development, said David Siegel, co-chairman, in the news release.
Mr. Spector was vice president of research and special initiatives at Google with oversight of the firm’s open-source initiatives and university relations program.
Two Sigma manages $28 billion in data-driven hedge fund strategies for an institutional client base.
