The redesigned Pensions & Investments Research Center is now live. The redesigned database starts with a new home page, which provides an overview of the $55.6 trillion industry P&I covers, with rankings of all organizations in the database and an interactive heat map. The database has three main sections: data tables, profiles and interactive charts.
Data tables allow creation of custom data sets and rankings. Information from P&I's Top 1,000 pension funds, money manager, investment consultant and other surveys is available. Data points can be selected from the new edit menu and filters will help obtain the precise data set desired. Reports can be saved for later viewing online and exported to Microsoft Excel. New graphical elements include sparklines, which show historic trends for data points. An expanded organization view is also on the data table, which provides more insight on a particular firm and expands the sparklines into full charts.
Profiles remain mostly the same but with a refreshed look and feel. More integrated charts can also be found throughout profile views. Profiles are now exported to PDF, which enables better support for graphics.
Two new interactive charts are available as well. A geographical map will display information by country, state or province. The heat map chart enables one to visualize the relative size of an organization through color shading or chart cells.
