James Davis was named chief investment officer of OPTrust, which manages the C$17.6 billion ($13.3 billion) Ontario Public Service Employees Union Pension Plan, Toronto.
Mr. Davis replaced Alex Macdonald, who left OPTrust in February, said Karen Danylak, OPTrust spokeswoman. Ms. Danylak did not say where Mr. Macdonald went after leaving OPTrust; efforts to reach him were unsuccessful.
Mr. Davis was vice president, strategy and asset mix, and chief economist at the C$154.4 billion Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Toronto. A search for his replacement is under way, with internal and outside candidates being considered, said Andrew Kondraski, OTPP spokesman.
Mr. Davis' appointment will not change OPTrust's overall liability-driven investing strategy, Ms. Danylak said.
