Springfield (Mo.) Police Officers’ & Firefighters’ Retirement System hired Brookfield Investment Management to run a $6 million global REIT portfolio, said Janell Manley, administrative director.
The $321 million pension fund conducted an invitation-only search earlier this year following the decision to allocate part of its 5% real estate target to global real estate investment trusts.
AEW Capital Management was the other finalist. Funding comes from an existing Prudential Financial real estate portfolio, leaving it with $10 million.
