Mirko Cardinale joined USS Investment Management as head of its multiasset allocation team, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Cardinale replaced Arne Hassel and Terence Moll, who were co-heads of the multiasset allocation team, the spokeswoman said. Both joined private bank Coutts.
USS Investment Management manages the assets of the Universities Superannuation Scheme, Liverpool, England, which has £49 billion ($74.3 billion) of assets.
Mr. Cardinale leads the team that is responsible for tactical asset allocation, government bonds, and the rebalancing and trading associated with these activities.
Mr. Cardinale was previously head of asset allocation for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Russell Investments. A spokeswoman for the firm confirmed his departure and said his role had been taken over by Steve Murray, Seattle-based head of asset allocation.
USS IM also appointed Bruno Serfaty as senior portfolio manager on the multiasset allocation team. Mr. Serfaty will start in the next couple of weeks, the spokeswoman said. Further details were not available by press time.
