Andrew Wiltshire, managing director and head of alternative assets at Harvard Management Co., will retire this year, the company announced Friday in a news release.
Mr. Wiltshire joined HMC, which oversees Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University’s $36.4 billion endowment, in 2001. Before becoming head of alternative assets, he was managing director of natural resources and director of timberland investments at HMC. In 2013 he earned $8.5 million, up 7.6% from what he earned in 2012.
Further information was not immediately available; HMC spokeswoman Emily Guadagnoli could not be reached for comment.
Harvard's endowment posted a 15.4% return for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014, 82 basis points higher than the 14.6% return of its benchmark policy portfolio.
