Robert Cohen and Joseph Sansone were named co-chiefs of the market abuse unit at the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement, the SEC said in a news release.
Both had been interim co-chiefs of the unit since August, when the unit's previous leader, Daniel Hawke, left to become a partner at the law firm Arnold & Porter.
Mr. Cohen has been with the SEC since 2004, while Mr. Sansone has been with the agency since 2007, the SEC said. Both had been deputy chiefs of the market abuse unit.
The market abuse unit is a specialized part of the enforcement division focusing on complex insider trading rings, abusive trading schemes and market misconduct.
