Pete Hess was named senior vice president and general manager at SS&C Technologies Holdings’ Advent Software business, spokeswoman Megan Griffin said.
Mr. Hess was president and CEO of Advent Software, whose $2.7 billion acquisition by SS&C was announced in February and closed July 8. Mr. Hess remained with Advent during the transition to SS&C, but his specific title under the combined company had not been established.
He will oversee two new marketing groups at the Advent unit: one led directly by Mr. Hess targeting traditional and alternative money managers, and one focusing on the wealth management and investment adviser market led by Dave Welling, senior vice president and managing director. He will report to Mr. Hess.
Mr. Welling was general manager of Advent’s Black Diamond, its cloud-based business group.
Separately, SS&C announced it had acquired Varden Technologies, a communications systems provider for financial services and fund administration firms.
Terms were not disclosed, Ms. Griffin said.
The Varden deal was the second acquisition announced by SS&C in less than a month; on Aug. 18, the firm announced it would acquire Citigroup’s hedge fund and private equity administration business for $425 million.
