John Black was named senior vice president, institutional business development officer in the U.S. at Pioneer Investments, spokeswoman Megan Ingersoll said.
The position is new. Mr. Black is responsible for direct sales within all channels of the institutional marketplace. He is based in Boston and reports to William Porter, senior vice president and head of U.S. institutional.
This is the second executive to take on this role at Pioneer this year to grow that part of the business. In June, Michael Dirstine joined the company as U.S. institutional business development officer.
Mr. Black was senior vice president, institutional sales at MacKenzie Investments. It could not be learned by press time whether he was replaced; MacKenzie spokeswoman Trish Tervit could not be reached.
Pioneer Investments had $246.5 billion in assets under management as of July 31.
