The Brin Wojcicki Foundation, started by Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife Anne Wojcicki, is among the largest private foundations (more than $1 billion) whose assets are concentrated in a single stock.
According to the latest IRS filings (2013), 95% of the foundation's $1 billion in assets are in Google stock. It was reported that Mr. Brin contributed an additional $382.5 million to the foundation in 2014.
The Joseph B. Whitehead Foundation, whose grants are “limited to organizations located and operating in metro Atlanta,” had about $1.4 billion in assets, according to its latest filings. Ninety-two percent of those were in Coca-Cola Co. stock (Mr. Whitehead was one of the original bottlers of Coca-Cola).
Among the Lilly Endowment's $7.5 billion in assets, 91.7% consisted of Eli Lilly stock.
