Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System, Phoenix, made five new commitments and investments totaling up to $371 million, spokesman Christian Palmer said.
The $8.3 billion pension fund committed up to $101 million to Melody Telecom Land Onshore Fund, an infrastructure fund managed by Melody Capital Partners. The pension fund previously committed up to $50 million directly and $50 million in potential co-investments to opportunistic credit fund Melody Capital Partners Onshore Credit Fund in September.
The pension fund also made a direct investment of up to $100 million in hedge fund Crestline CS 3000 Fund, managed by Crestline Investors. The pension fund's most recent commitment to a Crestline fund was up to $90 million, including up to $15 million in co-investments, to Crestline Direct Lending Master Fund in October.
Also, the pension fund made a direct investment of up to $80 million in hedge fund Myriad Opportunities Master Fund, managed by Myriad Asset Management. It is a first-time investment to the manager for the pension fund.
Separately, the pension fund committed up to $50 million to Ridgewood Energy Oil & Gas Fund III, a first-time commitment to the manager for the pension fund.
The pension fund also committed €35 million ($40 million) to Patron Capital V, a real estate fund managed by Patron Capital Advisers. The pension fund previously committed up to €8 million to Patron Capital IV in 2012.
Separately, Jared Smout, interim administrator since James Hacking was terminated in July 2014, was named administrator.
The pension fund had originally announced in March that Kevin Olineck, currently vice president of member services for the British Columbia Pension Corp., which provides pension administration services for some BC public pension funds, would join the pension fund in the position in October.
The hire was contingent upon Mr. Olineck receiving an H-1B visa from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and he was unable to get it, Mr. Palmer said.
Mr. Smout's new position starts immediately.
