As of June 30, the global equity allocation of the $191.4 billion California State Teachers’ Retirement System stood at 57.8%, 280 basis points higher than its 2014-2015 target of 55%, according to the fund's latest quarterly investment committee report.
Domestic equities accounted for a little more than two-thirds of the overall equity portfolio and 37.9% of the total investment portfolio.
Relative to its current targets, the fund was most underweight its private equity investments (10.1% vs. a 13% target).
By market value, CalSTRS' $19.1 billion private equity portfolio was spread across buyouts (66.1%), expansion capital (13.7%), distressed debt (11.8%), venture capital (7.2%) and mezzanine (1.2%).
