Maine Public Employees Retirement System, Augusta, made two new commitments totaling up to $100 million, said James Bennett, deputy chief investment officer, in an e-mail.
The $12.6 billion pension fund committed up to $50 million to Carlyle Power Partners II, an energy fund that invests in power generation and other assets, mostly in North America, managed by The Carlyle Group.
The pension fund's most recent commitment to a Carlyle fund was up to $60 million to Carlyle Asia Partners IV in May 2014.
The pension fund also committed up to $50 million to Walton Street Real Estate Fund VIII, managed by Walton Street Capital. The pension fund had made an earlier commitment to Fund VII.
