Brian Schneider is joining Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners' real estate group as a managing director and co-head as part of a management team transition, a Morgan Stanley spokesman said.
Mr. Schneider will report to John Wolak, a managing director and the head of Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners' private equity fund group. Mr. Schneider will co-lead the real estate group with current co-head David Boyle, managing director and chief investment officer of the real estate group, replacing Mr. Boyle when he leaves in June 2016.
Paul Vosper, the other current co-head of the real estate group and the group's chief operating officer, is scheduled to leave at year-end. A replacement for Mr. Vosper has yet to be announced, the spokesman said.
Messrs. Boyle and Vosper could be reached before press time concerning their future plans.
Mr. Schneider was a managing director at Medley Partners, the family office of Renaissance Partners hedge fund manager Jim Simons, where he managed real estate and natural resources portfolios.
“Brian has a tremendous record in this space, successfully managing real estate portfolios for institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania endowment, DuPont Capital, MetLife, TRW (Investment Management Co.) and Prudential,” the spokesman said.
