San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System committed up to $25 million to Castle Creek Capital's Fund IV, said Norm Nickens, board secretary of the $20.3 billion pension fund.
The commitment was made in the board's closed session at its meeting on July 8 and disclosed in agenda materials for the board's meeting on Wednesday.
An initial investment of $23 million was made on July 15 in the fund, which takes ownership stakes and other positions in community banks.
