Gerald J. Yahoudy II was appointed managing director of private equity for the $108.9 billion New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, Albany, the pension fund announced Thursday.
Mr. Yahoudy succeeds John W. Virtanen, who retired in July. Mr. Virtanen had held the post since February 2013. Mr. Yahoudy was appointed to the post by Thomas K. Lee, the pension system’s executive director and chief investment officer, spokesman John Cardillo wrote in an e-mail.
Mr. Yahoudy had been manager of private equity for the pension fund since 2010; and he has been a pension fund employee for 12 years, according to a news release.
“There are no immediate plans to fill the position,” Mr. Cardillo, wrote.
The managing director for private equity is responsible for the pension fund’s $7.95 billion private equity program, which represents 7.3% of total pension fund assets.
