Fred DeSerio was named senior managing director, head of sales and co-head of the business for the Americas at Nikko Asset Management, said spokeswoman Stephanie Lowenthal.
The role of head of sales for the Americas is new, while in the role of co-head of the Americas, he replaces Christina Alfandary, who left the company.
As co-head of the Americas, Mr. DeSerio will oversee the daily operations of the business in North and South America, along with co-head Larry Prager. As head of sales, he will build and manage the institutional sales and distribution platform servicing North and South America. He is based in New York and will report to Takuya Koyama, global head of sales, who is based in Tokyo.
Mr. DeSerio was head of sales in the U.S. at Nikko Asset Management. He will continue to oversee these responsibilities.
Nikko Asset Management is based in Tokyo and has approximately $162 billion in assets under management.
