Mr. Styles, who will join in mid-October, will become a member of the strategic policy group and economic research subgroup; chairman of the asset class research subgroup, and lead manager of the Baring Euro Dynamic Asset Allocation fund, said a news release from Barings.
He replaces Hartwig Kos, who is leaving the firm. Further details were not available by press time.
Mr. Ind will join in September as a member of the strategic policy group, and the equity research subgroup. He will lead the development of a long-short strategy based on the output of the strategic policy group.
Messrs. Styles and Ind will report to Marino Valensise, head of multiasset.
A spokeswoman for Barings could not be reached for comment by press time.
Mr. Styles was a senior portfolio manager and co-head of Amundi U.K. Ltd, Amundi's insurance business. Sources familiar with the situation said that David Ric, head of absolute-return strategies, will take on the institutional mandate that Mr. Styles managed. Chris Morris, co-head of investments, will continue as the sole head of the insurance business.
Mr. Ind was a portfolio manager at GLG, part of Man Group. A spokesman for Man Group said Mr. Ind's responsibilities had been taken on by other members of the team.
