Rhode Island State Investment Commission, Providence, committed to a private debt fund, said Shana Autiello, spokeswoman for state Treasurer Seth Magaziner, who oversees the commission.
At its meeting on Tuesday, the commission committed $30 million to CapitalSpring Investment Partners V. This is the first time Rhode Island has committed to CapitalSpring.
The commitment is subject to contract negotiations.
The investment commission manages the $8.3 billion Rhode Island Employees' Retirement System, Providence.
