Kevin Choy was named portfolio manager within the U.S. alternative fixed-income team at Pioneer Investments, said spokeswoman Stefany de Villeneuve.
The position is new. Mr. Choy is responsible for helping manage Pioneer's liquid alternative strategies, including the long/short bond strategy and long/short opportunistic credit strategy.
He is based in Boston and reports to Thomas Swaney, head of alternative fixed income, U.S.
Mr. Choy was a senior analyst at Hartford Investment Management Co. HIMCO spokesman Matthew Sturdevant declined to comment on a replacement.
Pioneer Investments had approximately $255 billion in assets under management as of May 31.
