Ohio School Employees Retirement System, Columbus, hired Neumeier Poma Investment Counsel to manage $125 million in active domestic small-cap value equities, said Tim Barbour, spokesman.
The $12.9 billion pension fund issued an RFP in January to complement existing small-cap equity manager Brown Capital Management, which runs $208 million. Funding comes from cash.
Other finalists were AllianceBernstein and Vaughan Nelson Investment Management.
As of May 31, the pension fund’s actual allocation to domestic equities was 23.4%. Its target is 22.5%.
Separately, the pension fund committed €50 million ($55.8 million) to BlueBay Direct Lending Fund II, a European direct lending fund managed by BlueBay Asset Management, and €30 million to Babson Capital Global Special Situations Credit 2, a distressed debt fund managed by Babson Capital Management.
