Stephen J. Brown was named executive editor of the Financial Analysts Journal, effective Sept. 1, the CFA Institute, which owns the publication, announced Wednesday.
Mr. Brown — the David S. Loeb professor of finance at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University — was appointed by the institute.
Robert Litterman, co-founder of hedge fund firm Kepos Capital and chairman of its risk committee, has been executive editor since 2011.
Mr. Brown, who has been an FAJ reviewer, is managing editor of The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, a position he has held for 20 years at the publication published by the Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington. Jennifer Conrad, Dalton McMichael distinguished professor of finance, University of North Carolina, will replace Mr. Brown as JFAQ managing editor, effective Sept. 1.
Mr. Litterman said he will have no official role with the CFA Institute after he steps down. He said he was asked to serve three years and his tenure extended another year.
Mr. Brown and Sarah-Jane Purvis, CFA Institute spokeswoman, couldn't be reached for comment.
