The Senate Finance Committee scheduled a hearing July 23 on the nomination of W. Thomas Reeder Jr. to serve as director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp.
Mr. Reeder has served as health-care counsel at the Internal Revenue Service since March 2013. Before that, he was senior benefits counsel on the Senate Finance and held numerous tax policy positions with the Department of Treasury.
Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., recommended Mr. Reeder for the position and pledged to move the nomination quickly through both the committee and full Senate.
The PBGC’s former director, Joshua Gotbaum, resigned Sept. 2. He is currently a guest scholar a The Brookings Institution.
