Vincent Camerlynck, Hong Kong-based CEO Asia-Pacific with BNP Paribas Investment Partners, will be leaving at the end of July to pursue other opportunities, he said.
An e-mailed statement from BNP Paribas said Ligia Torres, the firm's London-based “head of the APAC and emerging (markets) business line,” will take on the head of Asia-Pacific role “until further notice.” Further details on the company's plans couldn't immediately be learned.
A 10-year veteran of BNP Paribas Investment Partners, Mr. Camerlynck was named CEO Asia-Pacific just over two years ago.
Reached by telephone, Mr. Camerlynck said he's leaving at a moment when the firm is enjoying considerable momentum, adding that a good CEO is someone who makes himself “dispensable.”
He said he remains fully focused on his responsibilities at BNP Paribas and will only consider the next phase of his career after he leaves.
