Johnnie Barnett joined Allianz Global Investors as director of U.K. institutional business development, said a spokesman for the firm.
The role is new, and Mr. Barnett is based in London. He is working to manage and expand AllianzGI’s institutional client footprint in the U.K., and reports to Philip Dawes, head of U.K. institutional.
Allianz Global Investors has €454 billion ($505.3 billion) of assets under management.
Mr. Barnett previously was business development director within Northern Trust Asset Management’s institutional business. A spokeswoman for Northern Trust said he was replaced by Stephen O’Leary, who already was with the firm. Mr. O’Leary’s title could not be learned by press time.
