North Carolina Retirement Systems, Raleigh, rehired Prudential Retirement as record keeper for $9.1 billion in 457 and 401(k) plan assets, said Schorr Johnson, spokesman for state Treasurer Janet Cowell, in an e-mail.
The 401(k) plan had $8 billion in assets and the 457 plan had $1.1 billion as of March 31.
Prudential became record keeper in 2003. The current contract expires in December and the new five-year contract becomes effective in January. Mercer Investments will continue to serve as consultant to the plans.
An RFP was issued in October.
