State-Boston Retirement System invested or committed a total of $525 million to five managers, said John Kelly, investment analyst for the $4 billion pension fund.
The system hired Income Research & Management and BlackRock to manage about $150 million each in core fixed income. An RFP was issued in October. Dodge & Cox was the other finalist.
The pension fund also hired Crescent Capital Group and DDJ Capital Management to manage $100 million each in high-yield bonds. An RFP was issued in February. Oaktree Capital Management was the other finalist.
Finally, the board elected to make a $25 million commitment to GoldenTree Distressed Fund 2014, managed by GoldenTree Asset Management as part of a credit opportunities search. The RFP was issued in December. Oaktree Capital Management was the other finalist.
