Claude Chene was named global head of distribution at Manulife Asset Management, effective July 1, a spokeswoman said.
It is a new position.
“Expanding our distribution capacity follows the buildout of our investment teams, and Claude will, in addition to further building on our institutional distribution success and capabilities in Asia and North America, lead our institutional wholesale expansion into Europe, Middle East and Latin American markets,” said Kai Sotorp, president and CEO of Manulife Asset Management and global head of wealth and asset management for Manulife, in a news release. “He will also grow our financial institutions and sovereign wealth fund distribution capabilities.”
Mr. Chene will report to Mr. Sotorp.
Previously, Mr. Chene was global head of distribution and a board member at Ignis Asset Management, which was acquired by Standard Life Investments last year.
Manulife Asset Management had C$383 billion ($302.9 billion) in assets under management as of March 31.
