Ian Burton joined Pictet Asset Management as senior manager, business development, U.K. and Ireland, said Roger Price-Haworth, head of institutional U.K. and Ireland.
Mr. Burton is based in London, and reports to Mr. Price-Haworth. Further details, including whether it’s a new position, were not available by press time.
The appointment is part of the Pictet’s push further into the U.K. market, Mr. Price-Haworth said in a telephone interview. The money manager, which has €149 billion ($163.3 billion) in assets under management, already manages a significant amount of assets in emerging markets debt, with a number of U.K. institutional clients in the strategy, but was keen to have a more U.K.-centric strategy, Mr. Price-Haworth said. “As such, multiasset is a very prominent strategy for us,” he said.
“Having experienced (resources) is key to (increasing) credibility in the U.K. market, and having someone of (Mr. Burton’s) capability and experience is key to our strategy. He is well-respected in the marketplace, and the senior team here met with him and were equally impressed,” Mr. Price-Haworth said.
Mr. Burton was previously head of U.K. consultant relations at AllianceBernstein. A spokesman for the firm confirmed the departure, but declined to comment further.
