Kansas City (Mo.) Public School Retirement System hired Brandywine Global Investment Management to run a $30 million global fixed-income portfolio, said Thomas Mann, executive director, in an e-mail.
The $727 million pension fund conducted an invitation-only search in March for a manager to replace Mondrian Investment Partners, which has been terminated for performance.
Paul M. Ross, president of Mondrian Investment Partners (U.S.), did not return a phone call seeking comment by press time.
Other finalists were Payden & Rygel and Wellington Management.
Investment consultant Segal Rogerscasey assisted.
