Mary Schapiro, former chairwoman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, was named senior adviser for governance and regulatory matters at activist hedge fund Hudson Executive Capital, a news release said.
Ms. Schapiro was chairwoman of the SEC from January 2009 until December 2012.
Hudson Executive Capital was founded in January by Douglas L. Braunstein, former vice chairman at J.P. Morgan Chase, and James C. Woolery, former chairman-elect at law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
The two assembled the firm's “CEO partners” advisory board at the time and also announced Wednesday that Richard Kovacevich former Wells Fargo chairman and CEO, will join that board.
Officials at Hudson Executive Capital could not be reached by press time.
