Wilshire Consulting hired four senior consultants, said Julia Bonafede, president of Wilshire Consulting.
Robert Appling and Ryan Lennie were named managing directors. Rose Dean, meanwhile, has joined as vice president and Marlin Pease has rejoined the firm as a managing director.
The senior consultants replace a number of people who have left the company, including Michael Schlachter, who left in June 2014 to join Prudential Investment Management as managing director, multiasset-class solutions; and William G. Bensur Jr., Mike Dudkowski, Jim Neill and Michael Patalsky, who left the company earlier this year to join Towers Watson.
“These aren't necessarily one-to-one replacements as we work in teams,” Ms. Bonafede said in an e-mail.
Mr. Appling is based out of the firm's Denver office and reports to Andrew Junkin, a managing director. Messrs. Lennie and Pease are based in Pittsburgh. Mr. Lennie reports to Managing Director Mark Brubaker, and Mr. Pease reports to Ms. Bonafede. Ms. Dean works out of the Santa Monica, Calif., office and reports to Managing Director Eileen Neill.
Mr. Appling was a principal and director of investments for the central U.S. at Mercer. Mr. Lennie was lead consultant to health-care, corporate, endowment, foundation and family trust clients at Gallagher Fiduciary Advisors. Ms. Dean was a director for Umoya Capital. Mr. Pease was senior investment analyst at the University of Pittsburgh's endowment office.
It could not be learned whether they were replaced; Mercer spokeswoman Alayna Francis, Gallagher spokeswoman Linda Collins and University of Pittsburgh spokesman Ken Service could not be reached by press time. Umoya's website is no longer active.
