The latest quarterly data from Australia's superannuation system.
Assets up: Assets eclipsed the A$2 trillion mark for the first time, reaching A$2.05 trillion at the end of March.
Healthy performance: The average return for all funds was 13% for one year and an annualized 8% for five years. A 60/40 index composite of global stocks and bonds returned 2.16% and 6.7% over the one- and five-year periods, respectively.
Public sector tops: The performance dispersion between public sector and retail funds appears to be from retail funds' higher fixed-income allocation at the expense of alternatives.
Allocation: Australian listed equities accounted for the highest portion of systemwide assets (24%), followed by international equities (22%).
