Mark Nichols was appointed portfolio manager in Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ European equities team, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new, and Mr. Nichols does not yet have a start date, the spokeswoman said. Mr. Nichols will join a team of 11 investment staff, managing £17.8 billion ($27.9 billion) of assets.
“The European economy is on a strong path to recovery,” said Philip Dicken, head of European equities, in a news release. “This has translated into positive momentum in the stock market — yesterday’s bears have become today’s bulls.”
Mr. Nichols was a fund manager on the European equities team at F&C Asset Management. A spokesman confirmed his resignation and said his responsibilities will be passed on to David Moss, head of European equities. “We will look to add additional research (resources) to the team,” the spokesman said.
