Donald E. Townswick was named director, equity products at Conning, said spokeswoman Katrin Lieberwirth.
The position is new. Mr. Townswick will help develop equity strategies. He will be based in Hartford, Conn., and report to David Miller, managing director at Conning.
Mr. Townswick was a senior portfolio manager and analyst at Golden Capital Management. It could not be learned by press time if he was replaced; Lynette Alexander, managing director and chief financial officer, could not be reached for comment.
Conning had nearly $95 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
