James H. Moore Jr. was named president and CEO of the University of Illinois Foundation, Urbana, effective July 1, said spokeswoman Jessica Hampson.
Edward F. Ewald, senior vice president for development at the foundation, is serving as interim president and CEO of the foundation. Mr. Ewald was appointed interim president and CEO in October following the departure of Thomas J. Farrell, who left the university to become the senior vice president and chief advancement officer at the University of Rochester.
Mr. Moore currently serves as the president and CEO of the University of Arizona Foundation, Tucson, which has $255 million in endowment assets. A spokeswoman for the University of Arizona Foundation could not immediately be reached for information on a replacement.
The University of Illinois Foundation had approximately $1.5 billion in endowment assets as of June 30.
