Anne Dinneen was named chief investment officer at Hamilton College, spokeswoman Vige Barrie said.
Ms. Dinneen replaces Peter Tonetti, who will retire in May.
Beginning May 15, Ms. Dinneen will manage the Clinton, N.Y.-based college's $922 million endowment and planned giving assets. She will report to Karen Leach, vice president for administration and finance at Hamilton College.
Ms. Dinneen was director of investments at the $2 billion James Irvine Foundation, San Francisco. It could not be learned by press time whether she was replaced. Foundation spokesman Brian Eule did not return a phone call.
A report released in January by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Commonfund Institute revealed that Hamilton's endowment grew 24.11% for the fiscal year ended June 30. Hamilton's endowment grew at annual rates of 14.87% and 8.63% over the last five and 10 years, respectively.
