Jae Lee was named senior vice president in the emerging markets group at TCW Group, spokesman Doug Morris said.
It is a new position. Mr. Lee, who started Wednesday, assists in the development of emerging markets currency strategies and trading. Mr. Lee reports to Penny Foley and Dave Robbins, group managing directors of emerging markets.
“Jae brings a significant amount of expertise and knowledge regarding emerging markets currencies. We believe that the repricing in emerging markets local rates and foreign exchange over the last few years present opportunities, and we look forward to Jae's contributions as a member of our team,” Ms. Foley said in a news release.
Previously, Mr. Lee was a director at Standard Chartered Bank, where he oversaw Asian foreign-exchange trading, according to the TCW release.
TCW has more than $180 billion in assets under management.
