Rep. Joseph Crowley, D-N.Y., laid out a sweeping proposal for increasing Americans' retirement savings and other long-term needs Tuesday.
Mr. Crowley, vice chairman of the Democratic caucus, said in a speech at the Center for American Progress that his plan “makes saving not just a priority, but a possibility for every American.”
The plan calls for enhancing current retirement savings initiatives like the Obama administration's MyRA program and creating universal retirement accounts that would be funded by both employers and employees, among other ideas.
Details on legislation to implement the ideas were not available.
