Lynda Choi, the University of California's managing director and head of hedge funds, is leaving her position, said spokeswoman Dianne Klein in an e-mail.
Ms. Klein did not provide any additional details, including how the position will be filled.
Ms. Choi had managed a $6 billion hedge fund portfolio.
Chief Investment Officer Jagdeep Singh Bachher overhauled the investment office, which manages around $90 billion for the university's endowment, pension fund and investment pools, since taking office in April 2014. This had led to several resignations of existing staff, promotions and new hires.
