Hedge fund assets climbed 3.3% in the first quarter to $2.94 trillion, according to HFR's latest Global Hedge Fund Industry Report, released Monday.
The research firm said investors allocated $18.2 billion in net new capital to hedge funds during the quarter.
Equity hedge funds led all strategies by inflows ($9.6 billion in the quarter), followed by event-driven strategies ($3.8 billion).
Over the past 10 years, global hedge fund assets have grown at an annualized rate of 10%.
